Today Barack Obama will win the presidency of the United States. He will, deservingly, defeat John McCain by a large margin and that, my friends, is a good thing. The politics of the Republican party have driven the country closer to the brink than in 80-90 years. The barbarians are at the gates folks
While I am hoping and plan on celebrating a Barack victory, he is not the candidate that I plan on voting for. Today, I will cast my ballot for Ralph Nader.
When I tell people this, they mostly ask me why I am “wasting” my vote. To this I can only say that, one vote cast is never a vote wasted. Instead of voting against John McCain or against Barack Obama, I choose to vote for a candidate. Ralph Nader most closely follows my own ideology and beliefs. I believe that the initiatives and ideas that he has for the country will benefit it much more than those of the Democratic, Republican, and even Libertarian party.
Today, when you go to the polls, vote your conscience. Don’t vote just because someone has a chance to win, vote for someone you would like to see win.
